Dr. Robert Solomon

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Dr. Robert Solomon graduated from the Royal Atheneum of Berchem before moving on to achieve his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Tufts University in Medford, MA. During this time, he was the Co-Director of the University Smile Squad, and he also organized several visits to care centers in the area where he and his fellow students educated teenage mothers and orphans about the mechanics of oral hygiene. Then, he pursued his doctoral degree at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Solomon carried out several worthwhile projects during his time at Harvard, particularly the study of maxillary sinus cysts in a study population and the role of extracellular matrix proteins in human gingival tissue. During this time, he also regularly volunteered at Bridge over Troubled Waters, where he provided informative dental screenings and potentially life-changing treatment to patients in dire need from the Boston inner-city area.

After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2002, Dr. Solomon entered a post-doctoral residency program in Periodontics at Harvard. During this time, he held the position of teaching assistant for the head and neck anatomy class and clinical instructor in periodontics for re-doctoral dental students. Additionally, he became a research fellow under the supervision of Dr. Socransky and Dr. Haffajee at the Forsyth Insitute, where he studied the microbiology of juvenile periodontitis (LAP). Dr. Solomon earned his Certificate in Periodontology and his Master of Medical Science in Oral Biology in the summer of 2005.
